Pre-order Battlefield 3 from Origin, get Dead Space 2 for free

AppId is over the quota

EA’s added yet another incentive to lure players over to its Origin service.

All who pre-order next month’s Battlefield 3 from the service are already getting some DLC and early access to the impending multiplayer beta. Now, for those who order the shooter before September 19th, Dead Space 2 is thrown in the mix.

This one has a bit of a catch though. Namely, there is only a limited amount of copies available. Strange, seeing as it’s a download code, but whatcha gonna do. Free game still for those who hurry.

The Girls of Dead or Alive Art

Dead or Alive 5 has been announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2011 as the latest and fifth core title in the long-running fighting game series from Tecmo and Team Ninja. And the sequel to Dead or Alive 4.

This is the first Dead or Alive game that is being developed without creator Tomonobu Itagaki, who originally produced the title as well as the Xbox Ninja Gaiden series.

As you can see from the debut Dead or Alive trailer, the game will have much larger and more interactive stages than ever before. It is being produced by Yousuke Hiyashi who uses the tagline “fighting entertainment” to explain the direction of the title.

It will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012.

Here is a trailer of pre-Alpha footage of Dead or Alive 5.

New Deus Ex PC patch, updates available

AppId is over the quota

The stuttering issues in the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution are a thing of the past. A new patch, available via Steam now, is said to remove or significantly reduce the annoyance.

The update adds some new features and addresses plenty of other issues as well. Catch the full changelog below:

Fixes:
-    We have addressed various issues that can occur for players that would result in ‘stuttering’.
o    Stutters that are the result of graphics driver shader processing are now removed or significantly reduced.
o    Stutters that are the result of data streaming have been removed or significantly reduced.
o    Performance has been improved and made more stable on dual-core systems. This could previously also result in stuttering.
-    Fixed issue where some players couldn’t complete the Motherly Ties side quest.
-    Fixed an issue where doors in Omega Ranch sometimes wouldn’t open.
-    The TYM medical card should no longer fall through the table if an NPC’s body comes into contact with the card. Players already stuck in this area will need to revert to a previous save before the card fell through.
-    Occasional hangs for some players during video-playback have been fixed.
-    A crash on startup when running DX11 on a single-core CPU has been fixed.
-    An issue causing Eyefinity setups to not be correctly detected for some players has been fixed.
-    Fixed an issue where the HUD would get permanently disabled for some players.
-    Fixed certain issues that caused the mouse cursor to be able to leave the game-screen on multi-monitor setups.
-    Fixed an issue that caused the mouse cursor to not be visible in-game when the user has mouse trails enabled in Windows. We still recommend disabling mouse trails for a smoother in-game mouse cursor.
-    Fixed issue where ammo count for collected guns is incorrect when Adams weapon is augmented.
-    In DX9 mode:
o    Fixed error message for some users when trying to use FXAA Medium or FXAA Low anti aliasing modes.
o    Fixed shadow-mapping ‘lines’ on some graphics hardware when using anisotropic filtering.

Feature Additions:
-    The Enter and Numpad-Enter keys can now be bound to game actions in the keyboard control menu.
-    Intro logos can now be skipped on all but the first run of the game.
-    Added windowed mode.
o    Selectable in the menu, and can be toggled between windowed, fullscreen, and fullscreen windowed using ALT-ENTER.
-    Added an option to change the text language of the game. This setting only changes the text language, the audio is controlled by the language option in Steam.

Classic Levels
The game features levels derived from 20 years of Sonic history, spreading across three eras: Classic, Dreamcast and Modern. Each level can be played with either Classic Sonic or Modern Sonic, each taking their own routes throughout the level.[9] Classic Sonic’s levels are strictly two-dimensional side scrolling stages, using classic moves like the Spin Attack and Spin Dash while Modern Sonic’s levels follow a gameplay style similar to more recent entries in the series, with the console versions using the 2D/3D style gameplay of Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors, featuring homing attacks, boosting, speed drift and the quick step.

Other than the original Green Hill Zone, both the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version and 3DS versions of the games feature their own list of stages, taken from various games throughout the series. The following stages have been announced by Sega:

Xbox 360/PS3 Version

The 3DS version uses the 2D gameplay of the Sonic Rush series. Unlike the console ports, the 3DS version will feature special stages (based on the ones from Sonic Heroes) and a multiplayer versus mode, and the majority of stages included will be different from those of the console versions. There will be a local wireless 2-player race mode in the 3DS version of the game and a StreetPass will be used to unlock special content and challenges as one pass by someone else.

Hub Worlds
Hub worlds like the ones in Sonic Unleashed have been confirmed in an interview with Takashi Iizuka. He said that the hub world starts out as the white space, but opens up more as the Sonics pass through more levels.
