Xbox Live is coming to PCs via Windows 8, Microsoft’s confirmed. Xbox Live for Windows it’ll simply be called.

The company showed off its upcoming operating system at the BUILD conference this week; catch the keynote here.

Xbox’s director of programming Larry Hryb sums up the undertaking on his blog: “Xbox LIVE brings your games, music, movies, and TV shows to your favorite Microsoft and Windows devices.  Bringing Xbox LIVE to Windows 8 is part of our vision to bring you all the entertainment you want, shared with the people you care about, made easy.”

Further details are promised for the future, but going by the first screenshot below, Microsoft is certainly shooting for a unified look on this end of the OS as well; it looks exactly like Xbox 360's upcoming dashboard update.
