Tribes: Ascend gunning for beta

AppId is over the quota

Upcoming free-to-play Tribes: Ascend is being prepped for a closed beta as we speak. A press release states it’ll kick off “within the next few weeks” and that developer Hi-Rez will be granting access to “thousands of hand-selected players worldwide,” via the official website.

This initial beta stage will be hosting four multiplayer maps, two game modes and three vehicles for anyone who has been given the chance to do some jetpack-enabled multiplayer shooting in a war able to pack up to 32 players at a time. Progression through 12 playable classes has also been promised.

If you don’t happen to be among the first to gain access to the beta, not to worry as Hi-Rez will be opening it up for more and more players throughout the rest of the year, which will ultimately lead up to the game’s planned Q1 2012 release.
