Skyrim rated Mature in US, has drinking games

AppId is over the quota

Bethesda will taking the Elder Scrolls series to darker places than ever with Skyrim. That is if the US rating board’s Mature certificate is anything to go by (via Eurogamer).

The ESRB’s reasoning for their high rating is quite surprising. Apparently the game has a reference to rape among other things like drinking contests and (less surprisingly) blood and gore. An in-detail description even makes mention of slow motion decapitations.

It’s surprising to see some of that stuff will be covered in Skyrim, but that just makes us more excited to see how Bethesda handle it.

The game launches on PC, PS3 and 360 on November 11.
