Second Dragon Age II story DLC announced, out next month

BioWare’s announced the second story DLC for Dragon Age II. Starring Felicia Day — who’s also making Redemption, a live-action series for the RPG franchise — the “Mark of the Assassin” add-on sends players to steal a jewel from what’s described as quite the fortress.

Final Fantasy X HD Remake Announced For PS3 & PS Vita

A Final Fantasy X Remake in High Definition for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita has been announced by Square Enix!

Absolutely no solid information on this remastering was revealed, other than the fact that it IS happening, although Square did say the visuals will be beautiful and elegant. The remake is to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Final Fantasy X!

WOW! Ten years. Craziness. And while some will be extremely pissed that this wasn’t a Final Fantasy VII Remake announcement, it really makes much more sense to remake FFX, as the transition from PS2 visuals to current-gen is much easier than it would be for a PS1 title, which would have to be entirely remade from scratch.

Either way you shake it though, this is extremely cool news. Final Fantasy X is actually my favorite game in the series and a game I absolutely adore, as you can read in my Final Fantasy X Review from years back. Also give my Final Fantasy VII Review a read. Bravely Default: Flying Fairy RPG Announced By Square-Enix For 3DS

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is a 3DS-exclusive, Square Enix RPG announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2011.

The game promises to offer a classic Japanese RPG-style experience with a new and unique twist, a mysterious AR Card system that the game is built around. AR being the “Alternate Reality” games feature of the 3DS that uses the two cameras on the front of the system to put virtual objects in your real life world. The game is produced by Tomoya Asano and has characters from Akihiko Yoshida.

Details on how exactly the game will work are pretty much non-existent, but Square has confirmed it will make use of multiple AR Cards, a demo of the game is already up on the Japanese eShop and a special promotional AR Card was handed out at TGS 2011. Additionally, a giant life-size AR Card was featured at Square Enix’s booth, which allows gamers to view giant versions of the game’s characters on your 3DS screen.

One thing about the game is clear, it looks absolutely STUNNING. One report goes as far as to say that the game takes what would normally be concept art, and actually builds the in-game environments with them. Creating a game that looks just as good as the art it is based on (which is rarely if ever the case). In the same report the visual style of the game is highlighted in which the player said it felt as if they were inside a painting. It has been compared to the art style of Final Fantasy Tactics, one of the most beloved Square Enix games.

Dead or Alive 5 announced with trailer

Stop speculating and put those rumors to rest – Dead or Alive 5 is coming.

Tecmo’s TGS 2011 event hosted the reveal of the fighting game’s return. Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi even debuted the game’s first trailer, which we have here. He went as far as to call the game “fighting entertainment” over “fighting game”, whatever that means.

What’s the fuss about? It looks alr– oh my god half the rooftop has blown up. Oh sweet mercy hang on Ryu! Alright, alright, we want it.

DoA5 will be hitting both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.

Mario Tennis 3DS Announced With First Gameplay Video

Mario Tennis 3DS was officially announced at Nintendo’s Pre-Tokyo Game Show 2011 Conference where they showed off the first gameplay footage of the upcoming title which will be released in 2012.

No details on the game were revealed, although the gameplay video shows off footage that looks exactly like what you’d expect from a Mario Tennis title. One interesting aspect is how no “Power Moves” are used in the gameplay footage. So the game resembles the gameplay of the original Nintendo 64 Mario’s Tennis with Mario Power Tennis (GameCube/Wii) graphics.

Of course, super moves are probably available, they just weren’t shown. A final name also has not been given, it is simply labeled “Mario Tennis” or “Mario Tennis 2012/Mario Tennis 3DS”.

In the gameplay you can see four Nintendo classic characters duking it out: Mario, Bowser, Peach and Luigi.

One feature that is known is that the title will somehow make use of the gyroscopic motion controls of the Nintendo 3DS system.
